Grumpy may have owned Pro Stock for the first two months of the 1970 season, but by Spring, it was an all-Mopar show with Sox & Martin scooping up most of the wins. While it was true that the team received mucho help from Chrysler, they knew what to do with the parts and brought home the gold.
For a man who was always a quiet, polite, Southern gentleman, Ronnie Sox was an absolute TERROR on the 1320. That's how he earned the nickname - "Mr. 4-Speed." At one nationals event Ronnie had the rare experience of missing a gear change. There was a loud, audible GASP from the crowd. HOW COULD THAT BE??? I asked Ronnie about that and he said, 'Oh, that was an equipment malfunction."
