In the early ‘60s, this plain-Jane looking ‘56 Chevy drove the tech officials nuts. Bill Jenkins was formally trained as a mechanical engineer and took that training and applied it to his racing interests. Jenkins’ Stock Eliminator racer was subjected to numerous inspections and tear-downs and was always found to legal. Rumors had it that Bill had the car put into the crusher so that “secrets” would be preserved. The Grumpy one would never confirm or deny these stories.
