“The turbo bug was infecting drag racers like crazy in the early '70s. For a time, back in 1973, Fred Miner actually ran a destroked 301 Chrysler Hemi (originally a 354cid) with a turbocharger. The car weighed 2400 pounds, but it had 300 lbs. ballast! Called “El Padrone” (The Boss) in BB/GS, as it held the NHRA record. It's best was an 8.64 et. 159.26 mph.
