In 1973 someone in the Wonder Bread Company had a passion for funny cars. The company teamed up with Don Schumacher and campaigned a Vega panel wagon-bodied funny car. The car was as cute as can be because it looks like a bread truck decorated like a bag of Wonder Bread. The problem was that the Vega panel wagon body had terrible aerodynamics. The following year, master car-builder, Lil John Buttera built a stunning replacement for the '73 Vega panel wagon. The Vega coupe body had air relief vents, fender bubbles and every aerodynamic trick Buttera could think of. The chassis and tin-work was outstanding. Schumacher's machine was THE car to beat for a time and definitely raised the bar for funny car construction.
