When "Dyno Don" Nicholson showed up with this one-piece, flip-top fiberglass car in 1967, everyone was stunned! Don's factory supported, Mercury bodied, Ford powered funny car trumped everyone. The story goes that when Ronnie Sox first saw Nicholson’s new rig, he asked Don, "Did you know this car was going to look like this before you got it?" Within months, nearly everyone in the funny car ranks had switched to a one-piece fiberglass body over a tube frame chassis setup. This was the beginning of the end of the A/FX era cars.
