By 1970, the Ramchargers team was a long-standing, solid Funny Car team. The Challenger and ‘Cuda had all-new body designs for 1970, so most of the Mopar Funny Car teams switched to the ‘Cuda or a Challenger. What was so amazing about the Ramcharger car for 1970 was how close to “stock” the body was. It obviously wasn’t completely stock, but its proportions were very close to stock. Leroy Goldstein drove the Ramchargers Challenger for 2 seasons and regularly ran the car in the 7.0-second range. Leroy was credited as the first six-second Funny Car in the summer of 1970.
