Through the 90s, the Corvette just kept getting better and better. The 1990 ZR-1 set the new high-water mark for performance. The L98 had been a true war horse since 1985 and it was time for an interim engine and time to resurrect an famous old name - the LT-1 The new LT-1 was a genuine powerplant. Pumping our 300 net horsepower and 330lb.-ft. of torque, the new LT-1 was stronger than the old LT-1 and didnt have solid lifters to contend with. The engine redline was 5,700rpm - 700rpm more than the L-98. It had more compression, better flowing heads, stainless steel tube headers, and an advanced design computer chip. Best of all, the new LT-1 was STANDARD! It is important to note that the power figures are NET power figures, rather than the olden days of posting GROSS power figures. The 300 (net) horsepower translates to somewhere around 400 horsepower if measures the old way. Happy days are here again!
