As if there wasn’t enough hardware under the hood of a Corvette in the first place! Imagine the reaction when buyers first saw the 1967 427/435 Corvette engine. Not that a 3-2bbl carb setup had never been seen before, but the big chrome triangular air cleaner meant BUSINESS. The L71 big-block served as the hottest factory street Vette through 1969 whenn it was replaced with a single 4 bbl carb 454 in 1970-1/2. Today a 1967 427/435 equipped Corvette is one of the most valuable Corvettes on the market. There was a 400 horsepower version that looked almost identical to the 435 version. The 435 horsepower engine cost $437.10 from 1967 to 1969. As anyone who ever drove a Corvette with this engine will tell you, it was worth EVERY PENNY!
