Since the production Corvette came as a coupe and a roadster, it was only natural that Duntov would explore a roadster version of the Grand Sport. Two of the original five coupes were cut into roadster configurations. The two roadsters had all of the coupe extras, plus a very nice cover over the roll bar and a teardrop contour behind the drivers head. Grand Sports were raced through 1966 where at Sebring A.J. Foyt was driving a Ford GT40 Mk II. At one point in the race, Dick Guldstrand (driving one of the roadsters) blasted by Foyt. A.J. later commented, Whats in that damn dinosaur? It went by me like I was stopped.
