1963 Split Window Coupe A/Production Racer - Print #C2-4
1963 was a banner year for the Corvette. Not only was this the first major body redesign of the Corvette, but it also had an all-new, 4-wheel independent suspension. The popular 283 engine now displaced 327 cubic-inches and the Rochester Fuel Injection option put 375 horsepower under the drivers right foot. The infamous split-window was either loved or hated. Bill Mitchell obviously loved the styling gimmick, but Chief of Corvette Engineering, Zora-Arkus Duntov hated it... thats why it was done on the 64 model. There were even a few reports of owners having the split REMOVED and replaced with glass for a 64 to 67 Corvette. HORRORS!!!
