Carroll Shelby made quiet a name for himself with his amazing Cobras. he carried on with his winning ways by applying his magic to Ford’s hot new Mustang. An instant classic was born. The details of Shelby Mustangs has slight variations, but the major distinction between a '65 GT350 and the '66 model was the elimination of the stylized vents just behind the b-pillar of the Mustang fastback and the replacement of glass. The Mustang has a nasty blind spot for drivers and the extra side window was very helpful when driving in competition. It's also interesting that the new retro '05 Mustang has the same fastback side window treatment.

The Shelby Mustang was about two ticks away from being a SCCA race car and many saw action on road racing tracks. On the street, the lightweight small-block Ford was one tough customer. It had just the right amount of race car touches to let everyone know this was something special.
